Countrywide Home Loans will now be paying out 108 million to clients that were charged excessive fees based on an agreement struck in June 2010 with the FTC. This is a landmark case–one of the biggest in the FTC’s history.
Many of Countrywide’s former borrowers will receive somewhere between $500 to $5000 for the settlement. The company, now owned by Bank of America, is responsible for overcharging 450,000 customers.
