Yelp, saved again

Yelp website logoA judge was merciful on Yelp, again. A class action lawsuit that alleged that Yelp was trying to extort small businesses by promising to remove negative reviews in exchange for money was recently thrown out. The case began with a business that claimed that Yelp’s salesteam said it would delete a “false and defamatory review” only if the business purchased advertising at about $300 per month. This is not Yelp’s first time being accused of wrongdoing, and many feel it won’t be the last.

Successful link bait ideas for blogging

Creating an authoritative list of successful link bait ideas might be impossible, because each day new ideas are created and put to the test by successful and beginner bloggers alike. Here is a short inspiration list to help you create link bait for your blog:

  • Lists – By far one of our favorites. Lists are both fun and useful. They don’t require a lot of reading and they tend to do well with social media. Even glossy magazines have used the top 10 hook for years and years–and it works!
  • Awards – Who doesn’t like to win awards? Try creating an award for a niche industry.
  • Surveys and Stats – Try conducting a survey and publishing the results and insights. Your readers may find this survey quite intriguing and even get around to writing their own thoughts and insights–it could be a fantastic conversation starter.
  • Tools – Create a fun and newsworthy tool.
  • Quizzes – Quizzes and even personality tests have survived the various incarnations of the web. Taking a quirky quiz can be fun (at times).
